This Port Blair – Havelock – Neil Island Leisure Tour was not just a tropical escape—it was a chapter of my life etched in turquoise waters, white sands, and smiling locals whose warmth still lingers in my memories.

Join me as I relive this journey—a blend of cultural heritage, underwater adventures, island rhythm, and moments of utter peace.

Planning the Adventure 🧳🌍

How to Reach the Andaman Islands

✈️ By Air: Direct flights operate from Kolkata, Chennai, and Delhi to Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair.
🛳️ By Sea: Passenger ships from Chennai, Vizag, and Kolkata take 3-4 days but offer a unique sea journey experience.

I took a direct flight from Kolkata and landed in Port Blair in under two hours. The aerial view of emerald islands dotting the Bay of Bengal was breathtaking, to say the least.

Day 1: Arriving in Port Blair – Gateway to the Andamans 🛬🏝️

Warm Welcomes and Coastal Vibes

As I exited the airport, I was greeted by a representative from Sonakshi Travels, holding a placard with my name. A quick, breezy ride through palm-lined roads brought me to my hotel facing the shimmering sea.

Exploring Cellular Jail – The Echoes of India’s Struggle

In the afternoon, I visited the Cellular Jail, a haunting yet heroic monument from the British era. Known as “Kala Pani,” this structure resonates with the spirit of freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar and Batukeshwar Dutt.

🌇 Don’t Miss: The light and sound show in the evening—a gripping narration of India’s freedom movement.

Dinner Delights 🍛🐟

Dinner at a local restaurant introduced me to Andaman seafood cuisine. I savored:

  • Grilled Lobster with local spices

  • Coconut Prawn Curry

  • Banana leaf-wrapped Snapper

📸 Pro Tip: Local eateries near Marina Park serve authentic seafood meals in a cozy setting.

Day 2: Port Blair to Havelock – Sailing into Paradise 🚤✨

Distance & Travel

🚤 Ferry Distance: ~70 km from Port Blair
⏱️ Travel Time: 1.5–2.5 hours by private catamaran or government ferry

I boarded the Makruzz ferry, watching the coastline disappear into the horizon. The blue expanse turned into a meditative trance as Havelock came into view—lush, green, and inviting.

Radhanagar Beach – Nature’s Masterpiece 🏖️

Post check-in, I headed straight to Radhanagar Beach (Beach No. 7), voted one of Asia’s best beaches. The sand was like powdered marble, and the waves kissed the shore with rhythmic grace.

🌅 I watched the sun melt into the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple—an emotion more than a sight.

Evening Bonfire and Folk Performance 🔥🎶

At the resort, a bonfire was arranged with Nicobari tribal dance performances. Locals draped in traditional attire danced around the fire, their footwork narrating stories of the ocean and ancestors.

Day 3: Havelock Adventures – Beneath and Beyond the Blue 🌊🤿

Scuba Diving & Snorkeling

If there’s one thing that will stay etched in your heart forever—it’s diving in Havelock. I went scuba diving near Elephant Beach, guided by PADI-certified instructors.

🐠 Among coral gardens and schools of neon fish, I experienced an unearthly silence that echoed louder than city noise.

💡 No swimming experience required! Both beginners and advanced divers are welcomed.

Local Lunch at a Shack 🐟🥥

I lunched at a beach shack and tried:

  • Fish thali with rice and coconut chutney

  • Chilli garlic crab

  • Fresh tender coconut

Kalapathar Beach – Solitude in Sunset 🖼️

In the late afternoon, I visited Kalapathar Beach, lesser-known and wonderfully peaceful. It’s perfect for contemplative walks and stunning photographs.

Day 4: Havelock to Neil Island – The Hidden Gem 🛥️🌴

Distance & Travel

🛥️ Distance: ~18 km from Havelock
⏱️ Travel Time: 1 hour by ferry

The ferry glided past mangrove patches and coral shallows until we docked at the charming harbor of Neil Island—quiet, beautiful, and untouched.

Natural Bridge – A Marvel of Nature 🌉

Locally called the Howrah Bridge, this coral and rock formation looks surreal during low tide. The walk through shallow waters revealed starfish, sea cucumbers, and tiny hermit crabs.

🧭 Local guides explain the ecological importance and native legends surrounding the site.

Bharatpur Beach – Aqua Adventure & Picnic Spots 🏄‍♂️🍹

Ideal for:

  • Snorkeling

  • Glass-bottom boat rides

  • Picnicking under coconut trees

Families with kids will especially enjoy this beach’s calm shallows.

Laxmanpur Beach – A Sunset to Remember 🌇

As evening arrived, I found myself barefoot on the white sands of Laxmanpur Beach, watching the fiery sun set behind the silhouettes of fishermen’s boats.

The air was still. The moment—perfect.

Day 5: Neil Island to Port Blair – A Bittersweet Goodbye 🚤💌

After a relaxing breakfast and a last stroll by the sea, we ferried back to Port Blair. I spent my final evening shopping for:

  • Handcrafted seashell jewelry

  • Nicobari mats and coconut souvenirs

  • Locally packaged spices and oils

🛍️ Aberdeen Bazaar is a great spot for last-minute souvenir shopping.
